Tomorrow is a New Day

Video: Sarah Blasko - No Turning Back

With Twenty Ten quickly approaching I thought that the idea of posting Sarah Blasko's clip - No Turning Back was the perfect way to remind me to say Au Revoir, Good Riddance, Ciao, Goodbye, Joi Gin, Adios, Catch you Later, À Bientôt to 2009. Once the clock strikes midnight, there's no turning back. Tomorrow is a new day!

Profile Peeps

Often when I am sitting at my desk I think I am pretty lucky. Lucky, because of the creative environment and inspiring women that I work amongst. The images above are badges made by my dear friend and graphic designer where I work. Her 'Profile Peeps' collection are giveaways on her Blog, Handmade Romance. Each little character tells a story and have been made from scratch with love and pure talent. So don't let me hold you up, quickity quick - enter! You could be strutting around with 'Little Indie Girl' today.

What do Lego and Ipods have in Common?

Image: Jade Imports

So I asked you what do Lego and Ipods have in common? Answer is, nothing really. However Jade Imports have swanned in on the Lego craze (see Plastic Construction Post) by importing these little babies - Ipod Lego Speakers.

Messages From a Postcard

Every year my girlfriend gives me a birthday card that is completely different from the usual Hallmark Card that consumes my treasured b'day card collection (top draw of bedside table, gold box). They are these worldly postcards, a new age envokes a new country. I look forward to these cards the most. Hopefully my collection will never stop and maybe, just maybe, we could visit each country from my birthday postcard collection together.

Colour Me In!

Lobster Bisque - Orange, Lettuce - Green, Toucan - Yellow, Tea with Milk - Brown, Drizzly Afternoon - Grey. Whoever named these 500 pencils from Social Designer are completely brilliant in my book. Imagine...they were probably just sipping on their usual Earl Grey with Milk when BOOM they thought to re-name the boring name of 'brown' to 'Tea with Milk'. Yep, BRILLIANT!

Happy Birthday Foxy

Image: Pigeonhole

Got a foxy mate? Well for their next birthday, slap on a wooden gift tag from Pigeonhole. Gotta say, I could go nuts at their e-boutique. This stationary fetish that I have recently developed must stop.

*To my friends that read this - I hope you don't steal my idea and act suprised when you get one!!!

Zollo, Belinda

Image: Belinda Zollo

I am a little crazy for Belinda Zollo at the minute. The Australian Makeup Artist has travelled all over the world, working in Europe and London before moving to the big smoke - New York. To me, Zollo's the chameleon of the makeup world as she has the ability to create different looks that are edgy, feminine, classic, neon-pop and / or angelic.

Etcetera etc.

An inspiring woman gave me this inspiring book, Etcetera etc. by Sibella Court. It lives on my bedside table, most nights I read this in awe of Court's decadent interiors. Her words are teaching me to look at things in a new light and collect everything and anything - perhaps I will transform into the Bower Bird that she labels herself.

Something I Miss Most Days

The thing I miss most days is Nan's cooking. She was the master of culinary creations. I could never nor will I ever cook the way she did eventhough she left me with her own handwritten recipe book. I swear, there was some sercret ingredient that she never told me about or wrote in her oil stained and exhausted book. Perhaps this missing ingredient was just love. She did leave me with one savory tip however - the more Lemon Juice the better. It kinda works with most things, try it!

Selected as one of Time Magazine's Top 100 Design Influences

Images: The Sartorialist

My favorite blog of all time is 'The Sartorialist'. I have always envied how easily Scott Schuman captures an essence of style laced with pure unadulterated natural beauty. His class glistens through his photographs as his chosen subjects are savvy, real and often seem familiar. 'I thought I could shoot people on the street the way designers looked at people, and get and give inspiration to lots of people in the process' - Scott Schuman

I Knit for Tree

Image: Flickr

Sometimes I want to hug a tree, there is something vacantly comforting when you put your arms around a tree's trunk. Ok, Ok call me a little peculiar but it reminds me of being a child. Perhaps instead of hugging tree trunks I could knit my favorite tree (in my not so florishing garden) a sweater. Then it gets hugs 1440 minutes a day - all day, everyday.

My Uncle Hates Ads...

Like I said my uncle hates ads, in fact he turns the TV off the moment the program stops. I, well, I love them. Always have and always will. Don't you ever wonder who puts them together, how they thought of the idea, why they chose that location or concept!?

I Hart Jessica Hart

Now there's a girl that can wear a black tuxedo and wear it well.

Plastic Construction

There's something about Lego at the moment that has everyone talking. Sure, I like it but not enough to cover my kitchen bench in the stuff.

I Shwood Wear These!

Image: ShwoodEyewear

These $95 (unheard of price these days) shades made from Maple, East Indian Rosewood, or Zebra Wood are completely awesome. I am just waiting til Shwood gets up and running with their promised personlised engraved plates to be stamped across the arms. Shwood be good if it was ready for summer!

But How is it Still Standing?

This lamp needs to be purchased on placed on my bedside table - the sooner, the better. I have always enjoyed the abnormally simplistic yet somewhat edgy designs from Design House.

New York When it's Cold...

So I have done a little bit of traveling but nowhere near enough. However, I have done enough to recognise that there's nothing quite like New York in the winter time. It's so romantic, shit yeah it's cold but still so romantic and effortlessly seducing. The Guggenheim was one of the highlights of my trip alongside the time when I sat alone on the fire escape stairs of my rented apartment late at night. With a vodka in one hand, extremely cold bare feet, wearing a new scarf wrapped tightly around my neck and a Marc Jacobs trench coat kindly bought for me by an old friend - I watched people frantically dodge in and out of West Village. Someone take me back to Perry Street, NYC - I beg you!

Not Quite a Hundred Things To Do...

Image: Keri Smith

I get bored, in fact I get really bored. If you're the same then I have something you'll just love - Keri Smith's 100 Ideas. I am up to Number 57. Making a collage - it's almost finished. It actually looks rather unattractive. Thinking I may this leave this one for today.

You Did What?

Image: Third Drawer Down

Thanks to David Shrigley, I don't have to search for words to apologise for what I wrote on my neighbours garage door - his greeting cards have done that for me. Maybe I will just need to sign my name.
